Thiruvalluvar Statue is a 40.5 m (133 feet) tall stone sculpture of the Tamil poet and saint Tiruvalluvar. It was opened in the year 2001 Jan 1 and is located in a small man made island near the town of Kanyakumari, the Bay of Bengal, the Arabian Sea, and the Indian Ocean meet.<br />The statue has a height of 95 feet (29 m) and stands upon a 38 foot (11.5 m) platform that represents the 38 chapters of "virtue" in the Thirukkural. The statue standing on the platform represents "wealth" and "pleasure", signifying that wealth and love is earned and enjoyed on the foundation of solid virtue. The collective height of the statue and platform is 133 feet (40.5 m), denoting the 133 chapters in the Thirukkural. The specialty of Vivekananda Rock is Dhyan Mandapam, a meditation zone. Vivekananda Rock juts out of the convergence of the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. About 400 mts offshore the two rocky islands became the seat of enlightenment for Swami Vivekananda, an Indian truth-seeker and public reformer.
